"It's so simple I'm surprised we hadn't thought
of it before," British Petroleum president for
Public Relations, Sir Percy Wintershire, said.
"We've been trying to get the oil out of the
water when we should have been trying to get
the water out of the oil. Our engineers have
devised the perfect solution. They have made
plans to build a dike from Corpus Christi to
the southern most tip of Florida. Once this
step is completed we will pump the water out
of the Gulf of Mexico and allow the Gulf to fill
with oil. This will provide America with a
readily accessible source of cheap energy for
the next two centuries and eliminate the need
for costly and, as we now know, dangerous deep
water drilling and exploration. We will begin
work on the dike tomorrow," Wintershire told
this reporter.
